Ceylon Chamber Of Commerce (CCC)  

An independent, non-profit and non-political voluntary body.
It is the focal point for business contacts both locally and abroad and has specialized committees, affiliated associations and bilateral business councils.
The Chamber membership ranging from the sole proprietor to the multinational, encompasses virtually every sphere of economic activity in Sri Lanka - industry, import, export, agriculture, banking, hire-purchase, leasing, tourism, shipping, engineering, mining, consultancy services, wholesale, retail, financial services legal and other services.
The Chamber functions as an effective spokesman of the business sector. Its members serve on various institutions and committees set up by the Government as well as the private sector, either as Chamber nominees or in their personal capacities.
Funded mainly by membership subscriptions and charges for various technical services provided, it receives no financial assistance from the Government.

Sri Lanka Association For The Software Industry (SLASI) 
 

The Sri Laka Association for the Software Industry the national organisation representing the software industry was established in 1992 with the support of the Export Development Board (EDB) and the Counsil for Information Technology of Sri Lanka (CINTEC)

Objectives:
Promotion of Software and Software related services to achieve the best use of Information Technology and thereby contribute to the balanced growth of the Sri Lankan Economy.

To encourage and promote the earning of foreign exchange by means of the export of Sri Lankan Software & Software related services.

Association Of Computer Training Organizations (ACTOS)
 

The Association of Computer Training Organizations was founded in January 1991, with 14 founder members under the auspices of the Council for Information Technology of Sri Lanka (CINTEC). At present there are 16 members.
All member institutions have qualified and met minimum standards set for Computer Education and Training. The stringent evaluation process was also carried out under auspices of CINTEC.
The standards in education, training and facilities offered by member organizations are continuously assessed by the Technical Standards Committee of the Association in order to provide high quality education and training.
Since the formation of the Association, we have with the assistance of the British Council conducted a course for the training of the teaching staff of the member organizations.
ACTOS in association with the Council for Information Technology (CINTEC) and the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) have introduced the Sri Lanka Computer Driving Licence (SLCDL), which would enable people to demonstrate their competency in personal computer skills

 


Federation Of Information Technology Industry In Sri Lanka (FITIS)
 
Membership:
The Federation of the Information Technology Industry, Sri Lanka (FITIS), is Sri Lanka's National Federation of Trade Associations involved in hardware, software, computer education and training, Internet services and communications.

Objectives:

To provide a negotiating body and represent the IT industry on all matters concerning and in discussion with, the Government of Sri Lanka and instrumentalities thereof
To encourage and promote members to provide world-class products, services and solutions in Sri Lanka and overseas.
To act as the advisory consultative body for the industry
To formulate and propose model legislation and other such measures for the advancement of
the IT industry to the best interests of the country
To collaborate with the relevant government, national and international organizations
To protect the interests and objectives of member organizations and their respective members
To establish a forum for exchanging information, developing closer relationships between
members and identifying new business opportunities with IT organizations in other countries.

Activities:
Associate member of the Asian Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO), an organization that was established to develop the computing Industry in the Asian and Oceanian region. It has members representing 12 countries in the region.

 


Software Exporter's Association (SEA)

The Software Exporters’ Association (SEA), which is now recognized as a National Association, is planning to transform itself into the National Association of Software and Services Exporters.

The association, which started in 1999 as a grouping of dedicated software exporting companies, now has a membership of over 35 firms. The apex body recently sought membership with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and has moved its secretariat to the chamber fro July 1, 2002.

Objectives:
Promote Software and IT enabled services from Sri Lanka to new overseas markets.

Activities:
Marketing training and human resources, infrastructure and finance. The Sri Lanka Export Development Board and the Board of Investment are the patrons of the association. The EDB and the Information and Communications Technology Cluster have been providing the association secretarial support.
